Rooms & Suites at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino

MGM Grand Hotel and Casino is considered the largest hotel in Las Vegas (and the world’s second biggest) in terms of the room count, boasting some 5,044 guest rooms and suites arranged across 30 floors and four towers. After a 2012 revamp, the rooms vary in decor and fall under 20 different categories.

Each room category at MGM Grand features a marble-floored bathroom, a super-comfortable bed, a back-lit vanity, free Wi-Fi, and a flat-screen TV. Don’t expect to find a stocked fridge or a coffee maker, though. The Grand Queens, the standard rooms at the hotel, are spacious starting at around 450 square feet, and feature a contemporary design with patterned accents and colorful splashes. You’ll find electronic safes, marble bathrooms, queen-size beds, and well-lit vanities.

The smallest guest rooms, the West Tower rooms, are not only removed from the action but also the smallest, starting at around 350 square feet. The suites at the property start at around 675 sq-ft and bring additional features like dining tables, separate showers, deep soaking jet tubs, and living rooms.

All suites are contemporary and relatively large by Vegas standard, appointed with jewel-esque décor, minibars, king-size beds with Serta pillow-top mattresses, media hubs, and flat-screen TVs. The bathrooms feature Carrera marble floors, branded toiletries, magnifying mirrors, hairdryers, and separate showers with jetted bathtubs. Still, there are no in-room coffee makers.

Guests looking for extra relaxation and pampering in their stay should opt for the Stay-Well rooms. They include wellness perks like air purification systems, aromatherapy diffusers, secluded lounge check-ins, natural memory foam mattresses, and more. Those booking Spa rooms will enjoy the magic of deep soaking jet hot tub.

Restaurants & Bars at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino

Guests at MGM Grand Hotel and Casino will be wowed by the range of dining and bar options at their disposal. There are around 15 restaurants, ranging from casual eateries to fine-dining spots under the fledgling supervision of celebrity chefs, such as the three-time Michelin-starred chef Joel Rubicon.

High-end restaurants here include Morimoto Las Vegas, Tom Colicchio’s Craftsteak, Hakkasan Restaurant that serves Chinese fare, and of course, Joel Robuchon.

  • Craftsteak – This steakhouse serves American dishes for dinner only. You must make a reservation, though.
  • Avenue Cafe – Specializing in American cuisine, the Avenue Café is hot and trendy for lunch and breakfast.
  • Emeril’s New Orleans Fish House – Another popular spot for American classics. It’s open for both lunch and dinner.
  • MGM Grand Buffet – This is one of the most popular buffets on the Strip. It’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Aside from the buffet, casual eateries at the MGM Grand comprise Ambra Italian Kitchen, TAP Sports Bar, and Bonanno’s New York Pizzeria. Guests have access to 24-hour room service and a food court with a Subway and Starbucks.

There’s also a multitude of on-site bars and lounges for an added guest experience.

Amenities at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino

Spa

The hotel’s Grand Spa features 30,000 square feet of wellness amenities, including 30 treatment rooms, a steam room, a spa tub, whirlpools, numerous relaxation lounges, and a sauna. Massage services available at the spa include Swedish massages, sports massages, hot stone massages, and deep-tissue massages.

Aromatherapy and a raft of other therapeutic treatments are provided, as well. There’s also a full-service salon, the Cristophe Salon, which offers barber, coloring, hair care, and makeup services. Note that you must be at least 18 years of age to enter the spa.

Pools

As with everything else at the Grand, the hotel pool complex is huge, covering a whopping 6.5 acres. The complex consists of 5 pools surrounded by palm trees that give them a tropical essence. The most striking is the pool with waterfalls and a lazy river that winds a whopping 1,000 feet. The Director’s Pool is an adults-only facility with rental cabanas and many lounge chairs.

The Wet Republic is the place to be if you’re 21+ and ready to party. Covering 54,500 square feet, the facility is known across The Strip for its insane pool party scene. A rotating roster of well-known DJs, poolside grill, and five bars set the fun vibe here.

Gym and Fitness

The fitness center at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino is modern and nestled within the spa complex. It boasts a decent number of strength-training equipment and cardio machines. The hotel’s 4th floor has a separate cardiovascular room that’s covered by the daily resort fee.

Business Amenities

The MGM offers 602,000-square-feet of event and meeting space, incorporating around 57 meeting spaces that can hold between 20 and up to 10,000 participants. The Marquee Ballroom itself offers 92,000 square feet and has a capacity of 6,000 people.

The MGM is a great location for hotel guests attending major exhibitions at the Las Vegas Convention Center, as it’s easily reached via the nearby monorail.

The Garden Arena is the venue for many highly regarded boxing matches, concerts, and the yearly Billboard Music Awards.

Wedding Amenities

The hotel complex is home to a large ballroom, two chapels, and four other potential outdoor wedding venues. These include the Cabana that provided an intimate venue for wedding ceremonies and the Terraza with a great backdrop of The Grand for amazing photos.

  • The Cherish Chapel can hold up to 45 guests
  • The Forever Grand Legacy Chapel can accommodate up to 70 people

As for wedding receptions, there’s a choice of venues, as well, including suite rentals, restaurants, and the MGM Grand Conference Center.

Casino at the MGM Grand Las Vegas

The MGM Grand hotel casino is enormous, just like everything else, boasting around 171,000 square feet of casino floor. That makes it one of the largest casinos in Sin City. It has it all: a sportsbook, a racebook, lots of gaming tables, and thousands of slot machines. The casino is best known for its fun-filled craps tables.

MGM Grand Las Vegas Review: The Verdict

The MGM Grand Hotel and Casino lives up to its hype with an enormous 171,000-sq-ft casino, 5000+ rooms & suites, 15+ well-rated restaurants, and a 6.5-acre pool complex. It’s also a favorite choice for live entertainment that includes a mix of DJ-driven nightlife, acrobatic performances, concerts, boxing events, and award shows.

The rooms and suites are large and stylish with comfortable beds, free internet, flat-screen TVs, marble bathrooms, and media hubs. The only notable shortcoming is that there are no coffee makers in the hotel rooms. Forcing bleary-eyed guests to venture downstairs when needing a caffeine fix.
