Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino Overview

Tucked on the southern end of the Las Vegas Strip and overlooking the bustling Vegas, the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino is one of Sin City’s most family-friendly properties. A lush tropical vibe coupled with stunning architecture set the tone at this award-winning resort.

They’re all run by MGM Resorts International and feature large floor-to-ceiling windows, iHome clock radios, large flat-screen TVs, and exquisite spa tubs.

There’s a multitude of award-winning restaurants at Mandalay Bay, ranging from a 24-hour bistro to celebrity chef-driven fine dining.

The beach, however, is the property’s crown jewel. The 11-acre pool complex comprises a lazy river, sand & surf beach, and 3 mega pools, including a topless-optional pool and a wave pool. And if you wish to explore the rest of Sin City, the monorail stops at the complex.

Rooms & Suites at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino

The main Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino property provides guests with 3,309 rooms and suites that include 424 units at the five-diamond Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas. All of them are posh and spacious following a highly successful 2015-16 renovation, adding a contemporary décor and bold design that combines tons of stark contrasts and textures.

The guest rooms and suites at the hotel are packed with visual appeal and the floor-to-ceiling windows provide breath-taking views of the rolling desert mountains, Mandalay Bay Beach, and The Strip. They’re appointed in plush carpeting with ikat patterns, along with vibrant body pillows, accented walls with wood paneling, and nature-inspired murals.

The furniture in the guest rooms consists mainly of mid-century modern pieces that include writing desks and glossy consoles. Guests can expect to find an array of in-room amenities, including pillow-top mattresses, 42-inch flat-screen TVs, and fully stocked minibars. There’s free Wi-Fi (included in the daily resort fee), but you must pay for in-room coffee.

The bathrooms are also amply spacious with two sinks and wide-stone countertops, as well as separate walk-in marble-floored showers and soaking spa tubs. Recent guests praised the quality and charm of toiletries found in the bathrooms.

The standard rooms (Resort King) at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino are considerably spacious by Vegas standards and start at 550 square feet. They feature either a king-size bed or two queen-size beds, while the suites are much larger, starting at 683 square feet, and add more lavish perks like extra bedrooms, dining tables, and separate living rooms.

Guests hankering for a spa-like environment should seek out a room in the Stay Well section. They’re designed to refresh, recharge, and reinvigorate with a series of relaxing amenities and wellness technologies from Dr. Deepak Chopra, the Cleveland Clinic, and Delos.

If you’re looking for a more tranquil and silent stay, be sure to book a room at the adjoined Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas. The art-deco-inspired rooms are luxurious and exclusive, all set in a non-gaming and non-smoking environment, with great views of the bustle below.

Delano Las Vegas, also located within the Mandalay Bay property, offers 1,117 additional en-suite rooms with 1-½ baths, leather furniture, separate living & sleeping spaces, and impressive bathrooms that feature walk-in showers and granite/marble surfaces. These suites are pretty chic with elegant decor and even more spacious, starting at 725 square feet.

Restaurants & Bars at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino

Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino offers a mix of 30+ dining options, including award-winning restaurants and run-of-the-mill casual eateries. These are spread across the large resort complex that includes the Four Seasons Hotel and Delano Las Vegas. In terms of quantity, the property boasts one of the biggest selections on the Las Vegas Strip, cutting across varied cuisines, culinary styles, and price points.

When all’s said and done, it’s tough to beat Mandalay Bay’s array of fine-dining restaurants, which include many celebrity chef-helmed options like Lupo by Wolfgang Puck, Fleur by Hubert Keller, STRIPSTEAK by Michael Mina, and Aureole by Charlie Palmer. That makes the property a foodie mecca.

Not only that, but the hotel is also home to Bayside Buffet, a massive buffet-style restaurant that serves an extensive global fare for breakfast, brunch (weekends only), lunch, and dinner.

The casual dining options at the property aren’t too shabby, either, and they include a food court, Hussong’s Cantina for Tex-Mex dishes, Burger Bar, Slive for Vegas-style pizzas, and a Starbucks. Note that 24-hour room service is also available across the resort property.

Amenities at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino

Mandalay Bay Resort Casino pulls large crowds, largely thanks to its enormous melange of resort amenities. These include multiple bars, an average casino, a world-famous beach pool, a large spa with a gym, and electrifying nightlife and entertainment options.

Spa

The Spa Mandalay spans 30,000 square feet and features a dizzying range of amenities that include 23 treatment rooms, a cold plunge, a relaxation lounge, Eucalyptus team rooms, a cedar sauna, and heated whirlpools. Expect to get the usual selection of massages, ranging from hot stone massages and Swedish massages to Thai massages and much more.

On top of massages, the spa provides guests with body treatments, facials, waxing, tanning, and nail care services. A handful of treatment therapies are also offered, including aromatherapy and reflexology.

Gym and Fitness Center

The 3,000-square-foot fitness center at Mandalay Bay Resort Casino incorporates a decent selection of free weights, strength-training equipment, exercise balls, and cardio machines with private screen monitors. You’ll need to pay a fee to gain access to the facility. However, access to the cardio rooms is covered by the daily resort fee.

Pools

Pools are a true hallmark of the property. The Mandalay Bay Beach, which spans a whopping 11 acres, is one of the most impressive pool complexes out there. It features a wave pool, a lazy river, a real sand & surf beach, and three large pools.

  • The Moorea Beach Club at Mandalay Bay is a topless-optional, adults-only pool area
  • The pool area hosts a series of concerts and live-music performances from May through September
  • Guests can rent private villas, bungalows, and cabanas within the beach area
  • Tubes and rafts are also available for rental for the lazy river and wave pool

Business Amenities

The property houses the 5th largest convention center in the US, boasting well over 1.7 million square feet of meeting and event space. It can hold up to 30,000 guests at a conference, business expo, or trade show.

The meeting spaces within the resort include various breakout venues and raised-ceiling ballrooms. The 11-acre beach, 12,000-seat Mandalay Bay’s Events Center and the aquarium provide an array of unique venues and meeting spaces for hosting business gatherings and events. There’s a fully-fledged business center, as well.

Wedding Amenities

You’ll find 3 wedding chapels and an assortment of distinct on-site venues, most of which are spread across the beach and the Shark Reef Aquarium. The Valley of the Falls is the hotel’s biggest wedding venue and can accommodate up to 120 guests.

Casino at Mandalay Bay Las Vegas

As with everything else, the Mandalay Bay Resort Casino is large, offering around 135,000 square feet of gaming floor, yet it’s not as interesting, fancy, or exciting as other Strip casinos, and pales in comparison to Sin City titans like Caesars Palace, the Venetian, the Bellagio, and the Wynn Las Vegas.

Nonetheless, the casino integrates a good selection of poker rooms, blackjack tables, slot machines, roulette wheels, and other table games. There’s also a race-book and impressive sportsbook, as well as a high-roller room for VIP gamblers. The casino’s atmosphere and design are nearly on par with other large resorts in Las Vegas.

Mandalay Bay Las Vegas Review: The Verdict

The award-winning Mandalay Bay Las Vegas by MGM Resorts is a very nice hotel that’s set in a lush tropical environment and features stunning architecture and a family-friendly atmosphere. All the resort property’s 3,309 guest rooms and suites were given an uplift in 2015/2016, which added plenty of visual appeal and luxurious amenities. They’re elegantly appointed and boldly designed, all featuring 42-inch flat-screen TVs, separate spa tubs, and pillow-top mattresses.

There are tons of amenities for children, including the Shark Reef Aquarium, a streaming lazy river, a wave pool, and much more. There’s an equally impressive range of amenities for adults, including a 30,000-square-foot spa, award-winning fine-dining restaurants, lively bars, casino gambling, and a topless-optional pool. However, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino is a bit removed from The Strip’s action and the guest experience is often hampered by long check-in lines, noisy crowds, and rowdy children.
